The concept is great as a timesaver. Tie your string to the existing posts and start walking the line marker. Eliminates need for two people to "string" the baseline. Even though the sockets are imbedded in the dirt and flush with the ground, I'd be leary about using them to outline the batters box. The other problem , especially if used on a field where there are rotating grounds crews, is that the posts tend to get lost or misplaced rendering the sockets useless.
